Cantonese Beef Patties

Ingredients:

  • 2kg beef mince
  • 2 brown onion, chopped finely
  • 2 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 fresh chilli, de-seeded and chopped finely
  • 2 x 227g can water chestnuts, rinsed, drained, and finely chopped
  • 2 egg
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 4 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2/3 cup hoisin sauce, extra

 

Method:

  1. Combine beef, onion, ginger, chilli, chestnuts, egg, breadcrumbs, hoisin sauce and two thirds of the garlic in a large bowl, shape mixture into patties
  2. Combine the water, oyster sauce, extra hoisin and remaining garlic in a small bowl.
  3. Brush patties with remaining hoisin mixture; cook patties in hot frying pan until cooked through
